Yamashita Egi Oh F Vs Live Vs Search Vs K: Which Should You Buy?
Share
Yamashita makes several versions of its famous Egi Oh squid jig, and the names can get confusing. Here's what sets each one apart and how to pick the right one.
Egi Oh F: The Beginner's Jig
The Egi Oh F is Yamashita's entry level jig, made for new squid anglers and the replacement for the old Sutte-R. It has a full glow body with a clear finish and no foil, and its darting action is easy to get right. Choose it if you're starting out or want a quality jig on a budget. We stock it in 3.0 and 3.5.
Egi Oh Live: The All Rounder
The Egi Oh Live is one of the most popular squid jigs around. Its warm jacket cloth turns light into a subtle warmth for a more natural feel, and its patented slim nose gives a sharp dart with less effort. It comes in a huge range of colours, including UV, 490 glow and Neon Bright. Choose it if you want one jig that works almost anywhere. We stock sizes 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5.
Egi Oh Search: When You Need To Be Noticed
The Egi Oh Search is built to get attention. A strobe fin on its back creates a strong flapping action, flat sides throw extra flash, and a rattle makes a sound squid can hear. It also sinks a little faster than a standard jig. Choose it when you want to cover a lot of water to find active squid, or when the water is dirty. We stock it in 2.5 and 3.0.
Egi Oh K: The Premium Option
The Egi Oh K sits at the top of the range. A hydro fin and five sided body keep it stable as it sinks, the tin sinker can be tuned to change its weight and sink rate, and the rear hook crown is opened slightly wider for better hookups. Choose it for tough days with wind, swell or current. Right now we have the limited edition 10th Anniversary Egi Oh K in four exclusive colours.
